Veterinarian in Tucson

Kayla Boyer, DVM Owner  drkboyer@speedwayvet.com

Dr. BoyerDr. Boyer is a native of Oklahoma, where she attended the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating in 1995, Dr. Boyer practiced medicine in Maryland in a predominantly equine practice. Dr. Boyer decided to move to Arizona based on her experiences working on the Hopi Indian Reservation as an extern. She has been practicing small animal medicine exclusively since relocating to Tucson in 1996. Dr. Boyer enjoys the animal and human interaction of preventive medicine, and the diagnostic challenges of internal medicine. Her overall favorite area of veterinary care is in surgery.

Dr. Boyer actively pursues the newest techniques and science on the standard of care, disease prevention, and management of chronic health conditions.  Because Dr. Boyer values her client relationships, she makes providing information and education a core value of her practice.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Boyer enjoys outdoor activities, such as camping, hiking and “day trips” on her motorcycle.  In 2005, Dr. Boyer began taking flying lessons to obtain her private pilots license.

Kayla shares her home with her partner, Mary, and
their three dogs Loki, Maya, and John Doe (below).

Jaggers- Hey there human. I'm Jaggers. I'm the King of the World. At least, this world. I'm the REAL owner of Speedway Veterinary Hospital, but I permit the humans to think they are actually calling the shots. I've been supervising these humans since 1999, but I’ve inhabited this body since ’96. Every so often I donate a little blood to one of my brethren, and I permit the humans to practice their silly little CPR drills on me. I do get bored... They do it over and over and over again... like they just insist on getting it perfect every time. Oh Well... What's a superiorly intellectual feline to do?

oliver shoppingI’m Oliver - AKA ‘the prince’. I came to live at SVH in February, 2002. I was only about 3 months old at the time. I was pulled out of a burning house. My lungs were really really not happy about that, but everyone here just insisted that I get well. They gave me medication every 2 hours for a long long time. Then they gave me tuna. I decided to stay.  I love to terrorize my brother, eat cat nip, sleep in the window and leave my hair on Dr. Boyer’s desk.  Not too bad of a life, eh?

Dr Claire Marie RosenDr. Claire Marie Rosen drrosen@speedwayvet.com,
grew up in Kingman, Arizona. At age 5 she decided she wanted to become a veterinarian. A proud Alumni of Ross University, Dr. Rosen has been practicing in Tucson since her graduation in 2008.

Dr. Rosen has a passion for surgery, but also delights in the sometimes more subtle subjects of endocrinology and diagnostic imaging. She loves experiencing the human animal bond every day at work and looks forward to helping you with the furry members of your family.
Outside of enjoying her occupation, she spends her time working on her historic home. At home she spends her time gardening, listening to music, reading, making tasty meals with her boyfriend, and lounging with her two dogs, Dr. Pickles, Knox, and Quaker, the parrot. While she became a certified Yin Yoga teacher in 2011 and enjoys her private practice immensely, currently she has no ambitions to teach.

She is currently earning a degree in Veterinary technology and an associate’s degree in Science. Robin Creson has lived in Tucson, Arizona since 1991, originally from Fort Worth, Texas. Robin lives with her Husband RJ and their four “kids”: Puma, a fat but very happy and extremely spastic tabby cat; Smeeties, a stuck-up and self proclaimed “most gorgeous” calico cat; Dawn Chickles “Chickie” a Chihuahua rescue that has a personality all her own and no words could really do her justice; and last but not least, Hurley, a three-month-old lop eared bunny. Says Robin, “I am extremely happy to find such a great environment to work in with such amazing people and of course animals. In my free time I love watching horror movies and am always adding to our horror movie memorabilia collection, going on random road trips, and doing arts and crafts.” Robin is our Speedway team’s wonderful, caring multi-tasker in charge of the front desk. We are so very happy to have her be the first smile you see when you arrive at Speedway Vet.

He has a total of six pets which include two dogs (Jess and Jane), two cats (Red and Blu), and two cockatiels (Kane and Able). Originally, he went to school as a medical assistant, but a lucky break showed him that veterinary care was the field for him. In his spare time he enjoys camping with his wife and dogs, fishing anywhere he can, drawing, and of course the guitar. He loves his work and enjoys the opportunity to work with the Dr. and staff. He builds an amazing bond with every animal that come's through the door, healthy or sick.

Liana Ruggles is a native Arizonan. She was born in Sierra Vista and grew up in Phoenix. Liana decided to become a Veterinary Technician, and proceeded to attend Apollo College in 2003, and graduated in 2004. Lianna moved to Colorado for a short time, where she received her first job in the veterinary field as a Kennel Technician. After working in Co for 10 months, she decided the cold weather wasn’t quite for her, so she moved back to Arizona; this time settling in Tucson to be with her mother. Liana spent quite a few years in emergency medicine, and enjoyed her time working in ER, but eventually felt a smaller, more friendly personal facility would be best for her. Liana then found Speedway Veterinary and has been a wonderful very entertaining addition to the Speedway Veterinary Crew. In her free time, Liana enjoys rollerblading, walking her dogs around Reid Park, doing puzzles, and collages. Liana owns two dogs, Jaeda, a shar-pei Shiba Inu mix and Jeeters, a lab-chow mix. Mina, a DLH Calico, and a newly adopted kitten named Leonitis, a 7wk old Orange Tabby. Liana  really enjoys working at SVH, loves the relationships she gets to develop with each client, and thinks the SVH crew is awesome!
